Welcome to The Nerd Zest

The Nerd Zest was created for two very specific reasons.  The first is to satisfy my desire to create something out of nothing.  I have been toying with the idea of creating a web site, writing a book, and helping people achieve success by discovering their natural strengths.  After years of reading how easy it was to create a web site, start a blog, and build a business, I finally made a commitment to start.  The last straw was a podcast I listened to recently over at Smart Passive Income, episode #280.  Pat Flynn of SPI and Noah Kagan of AppSumo.com had an amazing conversation.  The main takeaway that I had, was that people fear just starting something the most.  There may have been the possibility of tacos that helped, but you should listen to the podcast to see what that is about.

The second reason for creating The Nerd Zest, is an overwhelming desire to help people.  More specifically, to help people discover their natural strengths, match those strengths to a profession or career choice, and to continually improve and grow, with the ultimate goal of reaching financial independence.  Sounds pretty simple, right?  Hopefully it will be, but I know the odds of building a successful business are not on my side.  But, as the great Wayne Gretzky says “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.

Lastly, I thought I would explain the name of the site and how it all ties in.  Nerd is actually part of my name, and I also happen to be a nerd.  My background is in software development, and I have worked in that profession for almost 20 years.  This blog will be a part time endeavor, for the short term.  Zest is a synonym for Life.  Being successful in life is hard, but as long as you know your unique talents, find work that will pay you well for those talents, and continually improve, there should be no limit to what anyone can achieve.

In the coming weeks, months, and years, I will be working to build this blog into a viable business, with products, a community, and real results.  Stay tuned to see what comes next.
