This global pandemic hysteria has caused a lot of people to come to the realization that they are not essential to human life. Simply put, If you are essential you can continue your work with some limitations. If not, you don’t work, don’t earn money, and struggle to survive. How was it for you?
What was non essential?
Did you happen to notice what was essential? Healthcare and Technology. What was not? Travel, recreation, entertainment, schools, sports, concerts, massage, bars, restaurants, gyms, you get the idea, anything fun or entertaining was non essential. We humans can do without these things. Yes, even sports and live entertainment. Sure they all make our lives better (or worse in some cases), but they are NOT ESSENTIAL to maintain life. Think a little about this when selecting where you spend your time earning your living.
Choose to be essential!
Make a conscious decision to select a career path (not just a job) that is essential, has income, professional, and opportunity growth potential. Healthcare right now is a booming industry because of all the money flowing into from the government, insurance, drug companies, and now from a global pandemic. Masks, ventilators, PPE, beds, even a floating hospital was let loose in NY to combat this thing. Who makes these things? Where do they come from? Companies that hire people to design, build, manufacture, and sell these devices.
Then you have technology. Zoom just became really popular. The internet became an essential tool for entertainment and human interaction during the lockdown. Ordering groceries, attending school, zoom happy hours, and endless streaming and surfing the internet. Who provides all of this technology? Engineers and scientists who are advancing technology and coming up with the best new stuff for your computers, phones, and tablets. These people get paid high salaries to develop new technology.
Choose to be essential and you will always be able to work, earn a living, feed yourself and your family. Choose not and in the next global pandemic you will have to sit home contemplate your existence and maybe select a different path.
